Iron Bridge Athlete - Todd Dunagan
What was your fitness background and what brought you to Iron Bridge CrossFit?
Played sports growing up, active in my 20's and 30's but began to slow down as the family started growing...
How has CrossFit improved your life inside and outside the gym?
I started Crossfit a few months shy of my 40th birthday. After working at it for a while now I simply have never been in better shape in my life. Literally, better shape now than when I trained and played sports in high school. Better than all those years at a regular gym that never really paid off. That's a testament to not only Crossfit but specifically to Iron Bridge CF and all the great coaches and athletes.
What has been your favorite moment at IBCF?
Stringing together 30+ double-unders. Going from not being able to perform a movement at all to becoming proficient at it. It's pretty great.
WODs and Movements - what are your favorites and what makes your palms sweat?
Any of the more complex movements, overhead squat or snatch. I love that they seem fairly simple but to get them right you have to break them down into smaller pieces and work at it. It's like a golf shot but without the golf.
One piece of advice for someone new to CrossFit
Pick out the days you're going to class and just go. Don't look at what the workout is prior to getting there.
What keeps you going in a WOD when your mind is telling you to stop?
Get through this one and you'll be stronger for the next.
Must do in Charleston
A bucket of oysters @ Bowens Island, sunset. But shhh don't tell anybody...
